American Debt Solutions - About Us

American Debt Solutions is a legitimate, not-for-profit credit counseling agency. We are designated as such through our 501(c)(3) certificate issued by the Internal Revenue Service. Our primary goal is to help our clients through the provision of free credit and budget counseling. Our counselors are all certified in the fields in which they counsel. As a service to our local community, we conduct seminars on these financial topics free of charge.

Our industry has received a lot of bad press due to the unscrupulous practice of some agencies that have been used as a "front" for other profit-making businesses. As a member of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA), American Debt Solutions has undergone significant scruntiny and has clearly shown that we do NOT operate in this manner. We meet many other stringent requirements of this exemplary organization.

There are many companies who call themselves Credit Counseling Agencies, but do not offer the kind of service offered by American Debt Solutions. We do not offer services in the areas of debt adjustment, debt settlement, or bankruptcy (although we will educate you about these options to help you to determine if they are viable options for you).

When you call American Debt Solutions, you will speak with a counselor whose primary goal is to help you understand your financial position through such techniques as developing a personal budget. This involves a detailed analysis of your income, expenses, and debts. Only after this is done can we recommend various courses of action for you. We will provide you with a written action plan and educational materials, free of charge, which will help you understand budgeting, credit cards, and electronic banking.

If (and only if) your budget reveals that you are a candidate, we also offer a debt management program where we can negotiate lower interest rates with your creditors. This allows more of your monthly credit card payments to go toward principle rather than interest, getting you out of debt in a fraction of the time it would have otherwise taken.
